Relief Society Birthday Party

Our Relief Society Birthday Celebration was last week.  After weeks and weeks of making plans and changing plans, we finally landed on our theme: Once Upon a Time.  This was based on the talk by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf entitled "Your Happily Ever After" that he gave in May of 2010.  You can find the talk here.

We invited each of the sisters to our dinner event.  We served Hawaiian Haystacks, which was a BIG hit.  We served it up buffet style, and let them have at it.

Each table was supplied with a princess crown at each seat and jewels, glitter, markers, and stickers for decorating.  In order to get food, each lady had to be wearing a decorated crown.

A young lady who used to live on our ward boundaries does princess parties for a living, so we invited her to come and dress up as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.  Part of Elder Uchtdorf's talk refers to Belle.  It was fun to have her wander around the room.

We used a projector to display the video Happily Ever After by Jenny Phillips.  She wrote a song to go along with the talk given by Elder Uchtdorf.  You can find the video here.

This was the handout that I made (I even took the picture!).  We made sure each sister had one at the end of the evening.  We just printed them on photo paper so the sisters could frame them, stick them on the fridge, keep in the car, etc.

The evening turned out really well, and we got lots of compliments.
